Full Time Position: Library Director

Salary: $50,000 (plus up to $3,000 towards health coverage)

The Community Free Library is seeking a full time (37.5 hours per week) Library Director for an anticipated opening in fall 2024. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, flexible, innovative, personable, service-centric individual. We seek someone who possesses excellent communication and organizational skills and is proficient in designing and implementing programs for all age groups. We are searching for an individual grounded in the local community and dedicated to expanding programs and outreach for our small, rural community.

The Director serves as the face of the library. This is an administrative position that involves responsibility for all library functions within the framework of the library’s goals and objectives, policies, and budget. The Director coordinates, supervises, and publicly promotes all library programs and serves under the direction of the Board of Trustees and in cooperation with the NIOGA Library System.

Located in Holley NY, the Community Free Library is an Association library, servicing residents living in the Holley Central School District. The library is a member of the NIOGA Library System that provides services to Niagara, Orleans and Genesee counties.

Qualifications:

  • A Master of Library Science (MLS) from a university that is accredited by the American Library Association and a NYS Public Librarian’s professional Certificate

  • Library experience preferred

  • While not strictly required, it is preferred that the candidate be a resident of the Holley/Clarendon area.
